Protect And Preserve The Natural Beauty Of Nature

- Do not take shortcuts, stay on the deignated footpaths.
- Carry everything away that you have taken with you - including empty containers, fruit peels, tissues and cigarette butts.
- Do not destroy vegetation or animal life, pick flowers, dig up plants or take any item of nature with you.

Do not pollute water resources. Do not rinse our or use soap directly in a water source.
Do not "go to the toilet" closer than 50m from a water source. Bury any toilet matter including toilet paper.
- Do not create fire hazards.
- Obey all the rules of the area in which you are hiking.
- Keep huts clean and sweep out your section before leaving.
- Observe and don't disturb, avoid noise pollution. No radios, please.

Carry the following items in a comfortable pack in every hike
|

- Adequate rain gear, cold weather gear and sun gear.
- Sufficient water at all times.
- Safety wistle.
- A cell phone is advisable.
- High energy snack.

ID & Cumhike membership card with emergency contact details. Additional emergency information must
be carried if any extra ordinary condition exists.
- Your own first aid kit with emergency blanket and personal medication.

Wear appropriate clothing

Foorwear: Only genuine hiking boots may be worn on hikes. Wear one or two pairs of genuine hiking socks.
Make sure your boots are the correct size and that they are worn before embarking on a long hike.
- Rain Gear: Rain jacket and pants must be fully waterproof and windproof. Test them before embarking on a hike.

Sun gear: Full crown and brim sunhats should be worn. Cloudy weather is deceptive and still allows harmful rays to penetrate.
Wear a high protective factor sunblock on exposed skin on all hikes.
- General: Wear loose, lligth clothing and carry layers to put on if necessary.

Follow the hike leader's directions and guidance at all times
|

- Sign the indemnity form before every hike - any person who will not do so, may not take part in the hike.
- The leader reserves the right to inspect the equipment any person booked on his or her hike at any time.
- Stay with the group. Do not split off. eep the person behind you in sight.
- When venturing off a designated path for any reason, please leave your rucksack at the exit point for others to see.
- Let the hike leader know if you are experiencing any difficulties.

Ensure that you are fit enough to hike
|

- Any person booked on a Cumhike hike is responsible for ensuring that they are fit enough to complete that hike.
- Prior or current abuse or alcohol or drugs impair fitness and cause dehydration while hiking.

Any person with a serious medical condition or conditions should not take part in a Cunhike hike.
If such a condition is knowingly concealed, especially if it jeopardises the safety of other people.
An indemnity is signed by all hikers prior to the hike commencing.
